Three brothers form a Triangle. A Triangle is already a Temple, even when its columns are still being carved.
In the tradition of the Ancient and Primitive Rite, a Triangle is a symbolic body composed of at least three Master Brothers who, without being a fully constituted lodge — which requires at least seven officers —, have been authorized by the Grand Orient to open ritual works in an Orient, receive profanes and begin to carve the stone that will, in its maturity, give rise to the constitution of a Respectable Symbolic Lodge.
The Triangle is the liminal body of Masonic work: neither profane nor full lodge, but a threshold between one and the other. Its name is taken from the first geometric sign — the luminous Delta — which in the Rite of Memphis-Mizraim represents, together with the central Yod, the Unique Principle manifested as a creative Trinity.
Akhetaton (𓊖𓏏𓉔𓏏𓏏𓊌, Akhetaton, "horizon of Aten") was the short-lived capital founded around 1346 BCE by Pharaoh Akhenaton (Amenhotep IV) at the site now known as Tell el-Amarna, in Middle Egypt. Its name literally means "the horizon of the solar disk".
Akhenaton proclaimed there the first documented religious reform in history: the affirmation of a single God — Aten, the solar disk — as the ultimate Principle of creation, against the traditional polytheistic pantheon. His Hymn to Aten, preserved in the tombs of Amarna, is one of the most sublime spiritual texts of Antiquity and, according to many exegetes, prefigures the solar theology later expressed in the Hebrew Psalm 104 and in Alexandrian Hermetic mysticism.
The city was abandoned soon after Akhenaton's death. His religious reform was rejected and reversed by the priestly caste. But the idea — one single Sun as Principle — was incorporated into later esoteric currents. Akhetaton, abandoned in the desert, became a symbol of the Temple built and lost, of the initiatic work that Tradition must resume to rebuild it.
The Akhetaton Triangle No. 2 takes its name precisely because of the double symbolic charge of Akhetaton:
The Triangle works with the rituals of the Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis-Mizraim, in the symbolic degrees of the Rite, adapted to the pre-lodge nature of the body. Meetings are less frequent than those of a full Lodge; the work privileges the instruction and formation of the brothers over the typical activities of a consolidated lodge.
Profane may be initiated in a Triangle under an explicit dispensation from the Sovereign Sanctuary; such initiations are carried out in collaboration with the mother Lodge — Khepri-Ra-Atum No. 1 — to achieve the ritual quorum.
The Triangle aspires to its constitution as a Respectable Symbolic Lodge of the Rite. For this, it must consolidate:
When all these conditions are met, the Triangle is elevated to Respectable Lodge and receives its definitive number in the SGO register.
The Akhetaton Triangle No. 2 is in formation. Its board of officers will be constituted as the conditions for its elevation to Respectable Symbolic Lodge are consolidated. Preliminary works are held under the dispensation of the Sovereign Sanctuary and the ritual assistance of the sister Lodges Khepri-Ra-Atum No. 1 and Osiris Amenti Resurrectus No. 3.
